Tactical Buyer (Maritime) FulltimeJob Description
For the Group Procurement / Supply Chain Department of our relation, an international maritime company. For this role you are responsible for purchasing third party parts & services from suppliers all over the world for global dry-docking projects of vessels. You will jointly define the project scope and be responsible for the requests for quotations, contracting of suppliers and the (international) logistics of the parts flow in the project. You will be a sparring partner for the Project Manager and will work in close cooperation with other functional disciplines and reports to the Procurement Manager.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Procurement & Logistics Plan:
- Conduct thorough analyses to determine the procurement and logistics requirements for each project.
- Collaborate with the project team and stakeholders to identify project needs and goals.
- Develop a comprehensive Procurement & Logistics Plan aligned with the category/sourcing strategy.
- Implement the plan, ensuring adherence to sourcing processes and operational tasks.
Risk and Opportunity Management:
- Identify potential risks and opportunities related to procurement activities.
- Assess and manage risks through effective mitigation strategies.
- Proactively identify opportunities to optimize procurement processes and achieve cost savings.
Supplier Selection and Contracting:
- Collaborate with the Project Manager, Technical Superintendent, and procurement manager to select suppliers.
- Execute the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process, evaluate bids, and negotiate terms and conditions.
- Prepare and finalize contracts with selected suppliers, ensuring legal and commercial compliance.
Progress Monitoring and Supplier Management:
- Work closely with project managers to monitor the progress of procurement activities.
- Ensure suppliers adhere to project plans and deliver goods and services on time.
- Resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise during the procurement process.
Performance Tracking and Reporting:
- Track and report on sourcing performance, including key metrics and deliverables.
- Identify areas for improvement in the procurement process and implement necessary changes.
- Prepare regular reports for project stakeholders, highlighting achievements and challenges.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience (3 to 5 years) in procurement and logistics, preferably in a project-based environment, preferably in a maritime international environment.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and contract negotiations.
- Technical affinity and keen interest in the maritime industry
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify risks, opportunities, and process improvements.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- A pro-active, hands-on and decisive working approach.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and tools.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Dutch residency and willing to travel (incidentally) abroad.
- The position is based in Rotterdam
