The Marginpar Group is seeking a visionary Chief Agronomy Officer to lead the development and implementation of an impactful agronomy strategy and roadmap. As the Chief Agronomy Officer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the production towards higher levels of sustainability, efficiency, and responsiveness to market demand.

What are you going to do?

The Marginpar Group is always forward looking and continuously striving to lift the production of their flowers to a higher level of sustainability, efficiency and meeting market demand.

You promote this vision and translate this into a clear – forward looking - agronomy strategy and roadmap for the Marginpar Group. The roadmap leads to the next level of flower production and makes sure they are future proof and stay ahead of the competition. You set the standards for the Group. The pillars Market Demand, ESG and Production Optimization are paramount in the agronomy strategy: create a better world by creating a sustainable business.

As Agronomist you operate from the Cluster Production and report to the Cluster Captain Production. In this capacity you are responsible for the agronomy strategy and activities for the Marginpar Group.

From this the following responsibilities:
  • Developing an agronomy strategy to meet the goals on Market Demand and ESG, and ensure it is Future Proof
  • Supporting with implementing agronomy (year) plans into domain plans and farm budgets and support daily implementation of the projects at the farms
  • Training and coaching farm teams & domain teams (& may liaise with partner farms for bi-lateral knowledge sharing) in continuous learning on agronomy and bringing agronomy to the outcome of the 5-year rolling plan
  • Managing R&D and collaborate with research assistants and farm teams to conduct on-farm trials and test plan elements, and you assist in implementing successful trials into broader commercial operations
  • Furthermore, your responsibilities include reporting, stakeholder management for agronomy-related topics, and involving in product development activities

Profile

Job-requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in related field of study from a recognized University with demonstrated work experience in agronomy, preferred in the flower industry
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainable agronomy strategies in a commercial setting
  • Proven affinity with East African/ International flori-, horti business
  • Strong understanding of ESG principles and sustainable agricultural practices
