Research group Multilingualism & Education
The research group Multilingualism & Education has been active since January 2020 and combines expertise in the area of language education, language development, and multilingualism in education and society. The research group examines what challenges professionals are facing when
teaching
in multilingual contexts and how they can
realize
the
potential
of (multi)lingual repertoires of students.
An overarching question is how professionals, in the educational system, can provide inclusive education in which everyone feels involved, and where everyones potential to learn is activated, with a focus on the use of all available languages.
The research group works in four different lines of research on the following sub-themes:
A meaningful focus on multilingualism in language
education;
Language oriented subject teaching and language across the curriculum
Inclusion of newcomers in education, with a focus on language and multilingualism
Processes of innovation: multilingualism in educational institutional practices.
