Your challenges

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from diverse sources to centralized repositories.
  • Design and optimize databases, storage and data models for efficient storage, retrieval, and processing of large datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, enabling the delivery of relevant data solutions.
  • Implement data quality and validation processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance, identifying and resolving issues to maintain data integrity and pipeline efficiency.
  • Stay current with emerging data technologies and trends, contributing to the continuous improvement of data engineering practices.
  • Exemplifying proactive leadership within the development team, serving as a knowledge sharing expert and role model for effective collaboration.

This is what you bring

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in a similar role, e.g. Data engineer, Senior/Lead data engineer
  • Experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, database design, and data warehousing concepts to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of structured and unstructured data.
  • Experienced in working with Azure (such as: ADF, ADLS, Databricks, etc.)
  • Experienced in working with Python according to DevOps principles
  • Ability to optimize and fine-tune data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability, leveraging techniques such as partitioning, indexing, and caching.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving data-related issues
  • Collaboration and communication abilities to work with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to look beyond and connect to related subjects such as data quality, data governance frameworks, and comprehensive security protocols.

What will you do in this position?

The Senior Data Engineer, reporting to the Lead Development CDP (central data platform) within the KPMG Data Office, will contribute to the Data Platform DevOps & Architecture team's initiatives under the Chief Data Officer. The Senior Data Engineer will play a vital role in designing, building, and maintaining the systems and infrastructure needed to store, process, and analyze large volumes of data. His/her expertise in data engineering will be key in ensuring efficient data pipelines, data storage solutions, and data processing frameworks. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their data requirements and design scalable and robust solutions to meet those needs. Defining standards for data modelling and integration will be a crucial aspect of the role, ensuring consistency and compatibility across the data landscape.
