About you

  • Completed HBO/WO education in environmental science, quality management or business administration
  • Experience within energy guidelines such as FQD and/or RED certification is an advantage
  • Good command of English language

Your responsibility

As the
Manager Sustainability
, you are accountable for the rigorous enforcement of sustainability standards and regulations, ensuring effective compliance. You meticulously lead internal audits in collaboration with specialists from the sustainability, finance, commercial, and supply chain departments. Managing a team of 3 individuals is part of your responsibilities, with direct reporting to Marcel Garst, Director Operations and Compliance.

You proactively identify opportunities and market threats, holding a pivotal role in collaboration with commercial teams, including involvement with industry organizations such as NVDB. You keenly observe political developments and translate them into the interests of various stakeholders, maintaining the highest standards in ethical behavior, compliance, and corporate governance.

In day-to-day operations, you act as the focal point for all sustainability-related matters, providing expert responses within the company. Continuously enhancing the sustainability policy within Sunoil Biodiesel is a crucial aspect of your role, involving close contact with relevant authorities to stay informed about changing national and European regulations.

You seamlessly integrate into our close-knit family, and your impact resonates across the entire organization. Confronting complex commercial challenges, you offer strategic insights.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising European and national sustainability regulations and informing relevant stakeholders.
  • Reviewing and enhancing procedures, including conducting risk assessments.
  • Evaluating and improving internal control systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Acting as a sounding board for suppliers and customers, effectively handling compelling arguments.
  • Serving as the main point of contact for sustainability scheme auditors and managing the annual ISCC and/or RED certification audit.
  • Monitoring the accuracy of mass balances.
  • Conducting regular internal audits (RED II and ISO 14001).
  • Exploring relevant developments in sustainable biofuels within regulations and the industry, translating them into opportunities and threats for our organization.
  • Representing the Sunoil Group in relevant networks and stakeholder meetings.
Leading discussions and providing insightful perspectives during board meetings, playing a key role in defining strategic objectives and the long-term vision for sustainability.

ISCC and REDcert are leading certification schemes in Europe, evaluating sustainable production, management, traceability (documentation), and greenhouse gas reduction.”
