Python Software Engineer

Function description

For many people, geo-information forms the basis for decision making in their job, and earth observation plays an ever growing role in solving various problems in our society. NEO has over 25 years of experience in this field and provides great value to our customers. The demands on our software and services are ever-growing, and therefore we are looking for new developers and specialists.

As a member of a team of developers, you will realize projects and build services in which geo-information and earth observation data always play a role. One sprint you might be building a tool to help our geo-specialists with a task, the other day you might work together with the deep-learning developers to discover new insights in the data. Together with the team you look for creative solutions and the best approach to handle the enormous amount of data. Additionally, you build blazingly fast tools to lift our production to new heights. This way you are involved in the entire complex process creating a useable end-product out of satellite, aerial and point cloud data.

You are independent, analytical and a team player. You communicate effectively, are proactive, you search out new opportunities and signal problems on time. You have a hands-on mentality and affinity with innovation and development. You are involved in the further growth of our company and will be given plenty of room to take initiative.

Knowledge and experience

We are looking for people with a the following knowledge and experience:

• 2+ years of experience in software development
• Fluent in Python
• Creative and “out of the box”, but focused on the end-goal
• Experience with git

Bonus (but not required) if you also have:

• Experience with:
• Cloud (AWS)
• (relational) databases (PostgreSQL)
• Docker
• Unittests
• CI/CD, DevOps
• Experience with developing API’s
• Experience with geo-software such as GDAL and QGIS
• Experience with remote sensing and earth observation data (aerial and satellite imagery)

This is primarily a software engineering role, therefore our ideal candidate has a HBO degree (University of Applied Sciences), a University degree in Computer Science or something similar.
