Nedap Tech Platform

The Nedap Tech Platform was launched in February and started with three teams: Infrastructure (delivering infrastructure as a product to the business units), Runtime (delivering managed services and expert consultancy focused on observability), and Architecture . Later, teams will be added that focus on development enablement, quality and security & compliance.

The Architecture Team is a team of experienced architects who provide expert consultancy. They enable Nedap business units and their teams to make better architecture decisions that both support short-term goals and enable long-term sustainable development. We facilitate the business units in determining and developing an appropriate architecture, development process and development organization ("how") that fits the strategy ("why"), functional requirements ("what") and quality requirements ("how well").

The architecture team works together with development teams in various domains, for example by conducting architecture walkthroughs or advising them on specific architecture questions. To achieve this, we work together with the teams and their management. In this way, the Architecture Team will also be the eyes & ears of the Nedap Tech Platform, and provide input for the other teams, for example insights for the Infrastructure Team into scalability and availability needs. The Architecture Team also works together with the other Nedap Tech Platform teams, for example to shape the infrastructure platform as a product.

Your responsibilities as an Enterprise Architect

• Bridge the gap between infrastructure, application architecture, business needs and strategy.
• Support teams in translating the business unit's strategy and objectives into an architectural vision and sustainable software solutions.
• Zooming in on understanding business requirements, risks, infrastructure and the application landscape. Helping teams understand the bigger picture.
• Support teams in identifying risks and advising them on the trade-off between business risks, scalability, availability, robustness and predictability.
• Assessing existing business processes, technology and ways of working and how they fit the need for business scalability.
• Helping teams think about how the current system landscape is divided into applications or services and what improvements are possible, for example by splitting large applications.
• Helping teams understand their way of working, development process & CI/CD, and how they can improve them, e.g.
• Facilitate architectural design collaboration sessions.
• Identify and collect patterns and guidelines from development teams. Promote standards where necessary.
• Provide input for the vision and strategy of the Nedap Tech Platform and help translate this into concrete activities for teams.
• Sharing knowledge, for example about patterns and guidelines, by giving presentations and workshops.
• Contribute to the Nedap Tech Academy by teaching internal courses.

This role as Enterprise Architect is a coaching and advisory role, not a decision-making role.

The Nedap Tech Platform focuses on supporting development teams within the Nedap business units with all aspects of the software development process such as tooling, frameworks, deployment and insights. Required experiences and skills

In this role as Enterprise Architect, it is important that you have a "product mindset" - to help shape the Nedap Tech Platform and the platform as a product that it will offer. You have demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to engage, motivate and inspire others towards a common goal. That is why you need good communication and presentation skills, for example to be able to convey ideas and proposals through presentations and workshops. Because it is a coaching and advisory role, you must have a cooperative attitude and a coaching style of communication.

Experience as a (software/enterprise) architect, in a environment:

• able to evaluate a system architecture and collaborate with teams and stakeholders in a non-opinionary manner, providing constructive feedback;
• able to make architectural considerations explicit and facilitate teams and stakeholders in making decisions and thinking in terms of trade-offs.
• Able to work in a multi-domain environment. Prior knowledge of the specific Nedap domains is not necessary; willingness to learn new domains and the ability to quickly understand the essence of a domain is important.
• Have knowledge of and experience with:
• Architectural patterns
• Architectural views
• Domain modeling/process modeling
• SaaS systems
• Cloud architecture (public and private)
• APIs
• Software development processes & CI/CD
• Test automation

Desirable:

• A background in hands-on software development & coding is useful, but only in gaining acceptance and adoption within the organization and to be able to delve into the details if a team issue requires it.
• Experience with Domain Driven Design and patterns such as Hexagonal Architecture/Clean Architecture.
• Experience with legacy software and architecture modernization.
