Summary

As a Design Engineer, you will work within our Engineering and Design Office team in our head office in Zwijndrecht, Belgium. You will perform different design works for our dredging projects worldwide and you will report to the Design & Engineering Team Leaders. The variety in the types of tasks is very broad and is touching upon many aspects of ship’s structures and systems.

You are supporting New building teams with design work 
You are responsible for making basic structural concepts and are executing strength calculations
You are responsible for detailing concepts and working out 3D models and production drawings
You are responsible for updating and improving ship’s systems, such as sea water systems, fuel systems, HVAC, etc… 
You are responsible for making deck load plans, lifting plans and procedures
You are preparing stability calculations, You are in charge for mapping the workability of different operations at sea
You are responsible for proper documenting and archiving the design documentation
You have a relevant engineering knowledge (preferable with a specialization in Naval Architecture or a Civil/Mechanical Engineering with links to Naval or Offshore Engineering).

You have knowledge and/or experience on one or more following disciplines is an asset: motions in waves, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, system engineering.

You have knowledge and/or experience on software such as Ansys Aqwa, OrcaFlex.
Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Mathlab, VBA is an asset.
Knowledge of 3D modelling tools such as Inventor is an asset.
You are able to communicate at different levels., You are fluent in English. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
You can handle strict deadlines and are able to work under pressure.
You are persistent in a diplomatic way and you value teamwork.
You are prepared to travel abroad for short missions and interventions on board of the vessel.

Within our Fleet Organisation, which ensures all maintenance and technical management of our fleet of dredging and offshore vessels, you work in the team that is responsible for managing all vessel certificates. These are all certificates required according to the International Maritime Organisation’s standards (such as classification , Flag State, …).

As a Project Controls Engineer you will be temporary assigned to provide support and assistance during the start-up of a project after contract award. You will analyse the employer requirements and implement according to the corporate Project Management System (PMS) as best fit for the project. You are the key person in making sure that the minimum of processes & tools are implemented for Schedule, Contract, Interface and Cost management.

With your experience you will create and improve the content in the PMS and will coordinate the alignment of PMS-content between Activity Lines. You need to be familiar with all phases of project management and have to be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds. You like to understand quality control concepts and you are good in developing creative and innovative ways to improve business processes.
