Data & AI Innovation Lead

KeyGene’s Crop Data Science department is the company’s central hub for the development and application of advanced data analytics for crop improvement.

This crucial work contributes to the quality and success of our support to our partners to accelerate their breeding and crop innovation. With a strong interdisciplinary and enthusiastic team, we design, build and apply highly innovative methods using systems biology, machine learning and artificial intelligence, to tackle a diversity of data challenges in genomics, trait research, digital phenotyping, and breeding.

Our technologies directly respond to the demands of our customers to transform and accelerate their crop improvement.

Role

As Data & AI Innovation Lead you will be responsible for:

• Lead the initiation and acquisition of cutting-edge R&D projects, aimed at pushing the boundaries of innovation in the Agritech sector.
• Create roadmap, define parameters and manage budget of several high profile projects.
• Craft and oversee a portfolio aimed at the development of novel frameworks, applications, and intellectual property in cloud computing and data science.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with all R&D teams and international partners.
• Manage and upskill an innovative research team of 7 – 8 scientists, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation and excellence.
• Contribute as an active member of the management team, demonstrating business acumen by envisioning future of the sector and formulating ground breaking research projects.

You will report to the Vice-President Crop Data Science and will be part of the management team of the Crop Data Science department.

Your profile

• Degree in Data Science, Cloud Computing, or a related computational field.
• Extensive experience in developing R&D software solutions, with a keen interest in cloud-based architectures.
• Innovative leader with acute aptitude of fostering open communication for the sake of ground breaking innovation.
• Demonstrated entrepreneurship and ability to turn challenges into high-impact R&D initiatives.
• Proven track record of leadership, innovation and project management prowess.
• Fluency in English and an ability to articulate complex concepts across varied levels of expertise.
• Proficiency in Kubernetes, GCP, and Azure is considered advantageous.

Candidates from outside plant field, who have a strong background and track record in data science driven software solutions, are very much invited to respond too.
