In this position you will play an important role within the Research & Development department. You will be working closely together with internal colleagues in R&D, Technology, Product Development and our factories. Additionally you will collaborate with external partners at universities, research organizations and technology providers. You will actively contribute to broadening the organization’s scientific understanding of (infant) nutrition and enabling the realization of strategic objectives.
Tasks and responsibilities You will:
- Play an important role in the further development and implementation of the Dairy Processing Research strategy within the Research Department;
- Responsible for the design and execution of projects on securing, characterization and development of new and innovative ingredients and concepts for application in powder or liquid products;
- Provide technical expertise to new initiatives and current projects in the in key process technologies as membrane filtration, spray drying, dry powder blending, powder conveying and liquid processing;
- Spot and anticipate upon new developments and trends, create valuable opportunities and concepts and initiate research projects and programs for introducing new or improved technologies, ingredients and products in line with the company's R&D policy and procedures;
- Build and maintain state-of-the-art level of knowledge in the requested field of expertise by networking within the scientific community, actively participating in scientific conferences and publishing in peer reviewed scientific papers. Ensure pro-active dissemination of knowledge to others, as well as its implementation in projects;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (R&D, Technology, Product Formulations, Operations), develop and maintain a network of industry contacts, scientific professionals and Key Opinion Leaders, collaborate with universities and research institutes (contract researchers) in projects and actively contribute to relevant industry and scientific events.
To be successful in this position it is important that your profile is:
- An enthusiastic professional with an academic degree, preferably a PhD, in Dairy Science & Technology, Food Sciences, Food (Process) Engineering, (Bio)Process Technology or an equivalent discipline;
- Having at least 5 years of experience in dairy, pharma or (infant) nutrition industry with knowledge of and experience with using processing techniques like membrane filtration, fermentations, heat treatments or spray drying, dry powder blending;
- Good interpersonal & communication skills;
- Good command of the English language, Dutch is an advantage;
- A team player with key competences: customer-focused, result-oriented, creative, pro-active, and pragmatic.
