Scientific Internship Computational imaging through an ultimately thin fiber
Are you a Bachelor or Master student looking for an internship?
The
at ARCNL has multiple openings for students with the ambition to do cutting-edge scientific research.
We focus on advanced imaging, sensing, and metrology tools and combine key ideas from fiber optics, super-resolution microscopy, and compressed sensing theory. We explore advanced computational algorithms and Machine Learning approaches for high-resolution imaging in hard-to-reach places: from semicon metrology applications to neuroimaging.
In collaboration with
ASML –
the world-leading manufacturer of chip-making nanolithography equipment – we explore the potential of computational multimode fiber imaging for different metrology applications. A compact low-cost fiber-based system will help to increase metrology accuracy and robustness for the semiconductor industry.
In collaboration with the
Center for Neurogenomics and Cognitive Research, VU, Amsterdam
, we visualize the functional distribution of biomarkers in deep brain structures with high spatial and temporal resolutions. We provide a new tool to study neuropeptide transmission deep inside the intact brain and their role at a functional level and in neurodegenerative diseases.
About the group
The Advanced Research Center for Nanolithography (
) focuses on the fundamental physics involved in current and future key technologies in nanolithography, primarily for the semiconductor industry. ARCNL is a public-private partnership between the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), the University of Amsterdam (UvA), VU University Amsterdam and the semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASML.
Qualifications
You have or will soon have a Bachelor’s degree in physics or a related field and will participate in a Master study during the entire internship duration. The internship must be a mandatory part of your curriculum. You have a nationality of an EU member state and/or you are a student at a Netherlands University. Please note: As of January 2021 the UK is no longer an EU member state. You must be available for at least 5 months.
Terms of employment
At the start of the traineeship your trainee plan will be set out, in consultation with your ARCNL supervisor.
