What you are going to do
Why do many people develop chronic lung diseases? Would it be possible to predict who are at high risk? To find answers to these questions, we will invite 5.000 people at medium or high risk for developing lung disease to perform a large questionnaire study. You will be seeing part of the participants to perform measurements and to take biological samples. When data collection is finished, you will perform analyses in clinical, -omics and exposome data, in collaboration with other PhD students and Postdocs. You will write publications and will have the opportunity to present work on (inter)national conferences.What we expect from you
The candidate should hold a Master of Science (MSc.) degree in medicine/pharmacy/ other (para)medical or comparable background and should be fluent in Dutch and English. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, experience and skills in epidemiology and is a good project coordinator. Furthermore, the candidate adequately communicates with medical and scientific professionals, patients and study participants. Experience with environmental epidemiology, exposure assessment and/or clinical medicine is considered a pre, just like having a driver’s license and willingness to travel for work (nationally). The ability to present a certificate of conduct (verklaring omtrent gedrag, VOG) may be a requirement.Where you are going to work
The PhD position is available at the department of respiratory medicine in Amsterdam UMC, location AMC. The PhD student could start as soon as possible, but should start in December 2021 the latest. You will be working in the large Dutch strategic Public Private Partnership P4O2 (Precision Medicine for more Oxygen, www.p4o2.org). This consortium of seven Dutch universities and twenty private partners allows you to work in a multi-disciplinary team and offers the unique opportunity to collaborate with companies such as pharmaceutical industries and diagnostic companies.Want to know more about working at AMR? What we offer you

Working at AMR means working in an inspiring and professional environment where development is encouraged in every respect.- The maximum gross monthly salary based on a 36-hour work week is between € 2.495,- and € 3.196,- (scale 21 CAO UMC), PhD students who have a Master’s degree in Medicine are appointed in scale 10, CAO UMC ( € 2.911 – € 4.615,-).
- The base salary does not include holiday pay (8%) and a year-end bonus (8.3%).
- We offer a contract for 3 years.
