Job description

As the 'Manager Business Control & Finance', you are responsible for the financial policy of the organization. You lead the finance team, set the direction, take clear control, and play a key role in decision-making regarding the future financial direction of all departments within the organization. You provide management, of which you are a part, with insight into financial performance, seek ways to improve processes, and oversee financial administration. You maintain the overview, involve people, and translate numbers into well-argued and solid (improvement) proposals. You make optimal use of existing (or needed) systems and gather the most important data for the preparation of analyses and financial reports, which you also present.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Inspiring leadership, coaching, motivating, and guiding as part of the management team
  • Setting up analyses regarding the post-calculation of all projects and identifying ideas to improve financial results
  • Responsible for optimizing (and implementing) financial processes and determining the course regarding financial objectives
  • Leading the finance team and being responsible for financial reporting
  • Preparing analyses and financial reports and ensuring "the story behind the numbers" for the rest of the management team
  • Being the financial conscience of the management team with a helicopter view
  • Ensuring excellent tax compliance and risk management and being the primary contact for the accountant, bank, financiers, and shareholders
  • Closely liaising with Project Management and providing them with financial and contract management advice
  • Analyzing financial data and making strategic recommendations based on your analyses, and providing explanations for figures and (investment) proposals
  • Analyzing market trends, competitors, and economic conditions and advising the management team accordingly
  • Overseeing cash management and developing strategies to increase working capital for further organizational growth

Background

  • Relevant experience in business control and financial management
  • Business education in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, possibly RA/RC
  • Experience with business intelligence (planning) tools, and additionally with ERP implementation is a nice plus
  • Experience in a project organization is a very strong advantage
  • Strong focus on continuously optimizing the finance department
  • Entrepreneurial, forward-thinking, anticipatory, and able to prioritize
  • A driver, initiator, problem analyzer, and both strategic and hands-on
  • Proactive and persistent, energetic, grounded, collaborative, and pragmatic
  • Good communication skills and listening ability
  • Interest in adding value in a technical project environment
