Technician - Tumor biobanking for immunological research

Function description

Immunotherapy is a revolutionary anti-cancer treatment that stimulates the immune system to kill cancer cells. In our institute we study the immune system and how it could be used against cancer cells. For this research is important that we can study tumor tissues.

As technician of the immunology tumor biobank you will be responsible for processing tumor material and freezing it as ‘live’ cells. As first point of contact of this biobank you will keep track of when material is expected and depending on the study for which the material is intended you will process the tumor material in different ways in the lab. Additionally, you will manage the administration concerning the samples and you will support further extension of the various immunology biobanks.

In this position you will have regular contact with the Pathology department, the Biobank department and the different research groups on the Immunology department that work with the tumor material.

Job requirements

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic technician with the following skills:

• A Bsc or Msc degree in life sciences/Biomedical Sciences/Laboratory school (HLO);
• You work concise and can easily remain overview of your tasks;
• Good communication skills and a social characters;
• You like working independently;
• You are flexible;
• Experience with cell culture is a bonus;
• Proficiency in the Dutch language is required.

Compensation

The appointment will initially be for 1 year and the gross salary per month will range from € 2.319,- to € 3.322,- depending on your previous work experience. The terms of employment will be in accordance with the CAO Ziekenhuizen (Collective Labour Agreement for Hospitals).

Your travel expenses will be reimbursed at € 0,08 per km (with a maximum of 30km single-way) which can be completed until € 0,19 per km at the end of the year by using our MKA-ruling – Flexible Employment Benefit. Free parking at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek is also part of the package. Personnel is stimulated to use public transport and bicycle and therefore we offer an interesting arrangement for bikers and/or discount on the NS-business card. As employer we contribute to 50% of your retirement at the Pensioenfonds Zorg & Welzijn and provide a collective discount at the health insurance IZZ and Zilveren Kruis and insurance for incapability for work.
