Profile Lead Structural Engineer
Are you a structural engineer with expertise in the offshore wind industry? Can you solve complex challenges and drive innovation in wind turbine foundation design?Lead Structural Engineer/Consultant
to guide a team of structural engineers in designing wind turbine foundations and transition pieces. You will also be responsible for advising clients on the best setup and operation of wind turbines while ensuring the technical and financial feasibility of the project.
Tasks & responsibilities:
- Lead a team of structural engineers generating concept, basic, and detailed designs for various wind turbine foundations, including jackets, gravity base foundations, and monopiles, as well as designing transition pieces.
- Perform design analyses and studies with accompanying reports to ensure structural integrity and compliance with project specifications.
- Advise customers on the optimal choice, placement, and operation of wind turbines, focusing on both technical and financial feasibility.
- Develop specifications and contracts for wind turbine projects, oversee the tendering process and the selection of suppliers.
- Monitor project quality and safety during implementation, ensuring adherence to industry standards and client requirements.
- Act as a key liaison between clients, suppliers, and project teams, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements Lead Structural Engineer
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in structural engineering within the relevant market, with a preference for those with experience in jackets, monopiles, and topsides for the Offshore Wind market.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar position, demonstrating leadership and technical expertise.
- Proficient in structural analysis and design software, including SACS and Ansys; familiarity with Femap/Usfos/Grlweap is an advantage!
- Experience with WTF load iterations, in-place analysis (ULS, FLS, SLS, ALS), and detailed analyses including bolted, welded, and grout connections, as well as vortex-induced vibrations.
- Good command of English, with Dutch being an advantage, for both written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrated competencies in adaptability, assertiveness, critical thinking, focus on quality, problem analysis, and result-orientation.
- Knowledge of turbine modelling software like Bladed is considered a plus!
- A team player who is eager to learn, works well both independently and collaboratively and possesses strong organisational and communication skills to manage relationships with clients effectively.
