Job description
You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day Linux operations and continuously improving the provided services, including automation. In addition, you will participate in projects to design, implement and support cloud-based solutions. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as interactively with other team members. You will amongst others:

  • Design, implement, secure and optimize scalable, highly available architectures both on-premises and in the cloud throughout the software development lifecycle (dev, test, staging and prod).
  • Complete lifecycle management from commissioning to decommissioning, including deployment, administration, networking, performance monitoring & tuning, security hardening, capacity management, incident resolution, root cause analysis of critical outages, trouble shooting and production operations.
  • Proactively monitor the health and utilization of the environment, both on-prem and cloud, to detect and prevent problems, ensure high availability for the users and plan future growth to meet needs.
  • Automate repetitive system management tasks, including build, configuration, patch and deployment tasks using Ansible/Tower, Satellite, Git and cloud-based tools.
  • Cloud Platform design and administration (compute, storage, DB, migration, network & content delivery services, etc.).
  • Produce documentation for the implementation of changes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Research and assess new technologies and produce proposals.
  • Implement processes, policies, best practices and tools to ensure a secure, stable and flexible environment.
  • Ensure compliance with Viterra’s policies and procedures.
  • Willing to work outside normal office hours and weekends, if required.
Requirements
In order to be succesful in this role, we require
  • Bachelor/Master or equivalent in Information Technology or other relevant field;
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar position;
  • Strong experience in managing large-scale Linux systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux and Ubuntu) – RHEL certification preferred.
  • Experience in designing, implementing and supporting cloud technologies.
  • Must have hands-on experience with infrastructure as a code and automation/configuration management using Ansible/Tower and Git.
  • Experience with patch management lifecycle tools (Satellite, Spacewalk, etc.).
  • Experience with vulnerability management tools and processes.
  • Excellent scripting (Bash and Ansible scripts)
  • Good working knowledge of Python.
  • Working knowledge of VMWare, Storage and networking.
  • Oracle knowledge is an advantage.
  • Experience with working in a DevOps structure.
  • Pro-active, innovative, flexible and can work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills and ability to carry out root cause analysis and produce RCA reports.
  • Able to work both independently and as a team member delivering commitments on time.
  • Strong technical documentation skills.
  • Good in English and Dutch (spoken and written.
  • Flexible in working hours; occasional work during evenings or weekends should be expected.
