As an Investment Analyst Quantitative Equity you will be part of the External Strategy Management (ESM) team, a 20 person specialist team based in Amsterdam, which is centrally positioned in the investment department of APG Asset Management. The ESM team has a global scope and looks at the externally managed asset classes. Within ESM there is a Quant Equity team that is responsible for the selection and monitoring of external quant equity managers. You will join this team as an Investment Analyst Quantitative Equity. This position offers unique learning opportunities by working together with experienced investment professionals and best in class external asset managers as well as being part of the bigger ESM team where external managers in a.o. Fundamental Equity, Fixed Income and Commodities are selected and monitored.

In this position you put your quantitative skills at work in the portfolio construction of external quant equity managers. You will be involved in the day-to-day contact with the external quant equity managers and have the following responsibilities under the guidance of a senior portfolio manager:

• Develop and maintain reports used to analyze the results of the external quant equity managers;
• Collaborate with the portfolio managers in research on the external quant equity managers in the portfolio. Support them in writing reviews and feedbacks;
• Stay updated on the universe of external quant managers and relevant developments in academia and industry;
• Work closely together with the portfolio managers during a selection process for new external quant managers;
• Support the portfolio managers in their day-to-day operations, including activities such as the allocation process, instructing managers, report writing, and manager monitoring;
• Work with other teams within ESM and the broader APG AM organization, such as Risk Management, Fiduciary Management, Operational Due Diligence, Responsible Investing, IT and Operations;
• Contribute on digitalization efforts within the Quant Equity and the broader ESM team.

Job requirements

You have a self-starting attitude and a pragmatic, team-oriented mindset. You know how to organize your internal network and you are a team player. You are analytically strong and you work accurately. You are able to form an independent opinion, are willing to challenge other’s opinions and are capable of asking the right questions at the right time. You are also not afraid to ask for more information when necessary.

In addition, you have:

• A master degree in (quantitative) finance, economics, mathematics, data science or related fields;
• 0-3 years of relevant work experience;
• Analytical skills in combination with a critical but practical mindset;
• Ability to handle various situations, pro-active and hands-on, getting things done
• A clear interest in financial markets, asset management and sustainable investments;
• Affinity and experience with programming;
• Affinity with digitalization;
• Willingness to develop yourself further and to obtain professional qualifications (CFA, VBA or similar);
• Healthy ambition and you feel comfortable in a demanding, performance-oriented work environment;
• Excellent command of English, spoken and written.
