PhD student Molecular Cardiovascular Aging

Vumc - Amsterdam - 11-06-2021 Naar vacature

Targeting non-coding RNA to treat cardiovascular aging
  • 36 hours
  • Salary : 2495 to 3196 euro
  • temporary contract

Your challenge

This project aims to unravel the role of aging-regulated non-coding RNAs in controlling cardiovascular aging. Aging is the main cause of cardiovascular disease and the main type of heart failure that is caused by aging is heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Currently there is no treatment for this disease and the underlying causes are also not clear. Recently, it has been shown that the non-coding part of the genome is transcribed in RNA and that these so-called non-coding RNAs contribute to cellular processes, including aging. In this project we aim to unravel the role of these non-coding RNAs in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
