Hunt-technieken

Wij, achttien starters, vrijwel allen op zoek naar een passende baan, beginnen na maanden van solliciteren enige gevoelens van frustratie te ontwikkelen. Gelukkig was hier Ingrid Kerr van Studio Werk, die voor ons tijdens de workshop ‘Personal branding’ maar al te graag onmisbare insider tips vanuit haar rol als recruiter uit de doeken wilde doen.

De bijeenkomst vond plaats als onderdeel van het praktijkgerichte trainingspogramma van Starters4Communities waarin wij vier maanden lang workshops over sociaal ondernemerschap volgen en werken aan wijkprojecten in Amsterdam West en Nieuw West. Ingrid kwam met haar warme persoonlijke stijl als geroepen in het programma en drukte ons op het hart dat er wel degelijk werk te vinden is! Vanuit haar sociologische achtergrond verklaarde zij de macro-processen die tegenwoordig van toepassing zijn op de arbeidsmarkt. Mensen wisselen -vergeleken met vroeger- als een razende van werkgever waardoor ze zich meer binden aan een project dan aan een bedrijf. Vanuit dit idee gaf Ingrid ons tips over solliciteren, Linkedin profielen en cv’s schrijven, waarbij meerdere starters met enige verbazing realiseerden dat er nog een hoop te verbeteren was in hun job-hunt-technieken.

Als huiswerk moesten wij een aantal formulieren soldaat maken met vragen over wat ons gelukkig maakte tijdens onze studie en waarin wij uitblonken tijdens vorige baantjes. Ingrid had al snel door dat wij ons huiswerk niet zo aandachtig hadden gedaan en het belang van het formulier onderschatten. Ze reageerde in het geheel niet teleurgesteld maar als een lieve behulpzame tante waarbij ze benadrukte dat ze een trend zag in de ongemakkelijkheid die mensen ervaren bij de vragen uit het formulier. Ingrid stelde dat wij, van jongs af aan, niet gewend zijn op onze talenten te focussen. In de warme sfeer die er ontstaan was ging zij moeiteloos voor de gehele groep in gesprek met een aantal starters over hun talenten en passies die ze (soms naar eigen verbazing) bleken te hebben. Met glunderende koppies en soms een peinzende blik liet zij de starters achter met een optimistischer zelfbeeld.

Na het insider perspectief dat Ingrid ons bood met haar jarenlange ervaring als recruiter was de hoop weer wedergekeerd over de hele solliciteersituatie. De starters verlieten met een glimlach het lokaal, maar niet voor Ingrid eerst even toe te voegen op Linkedin, want je weet het maar nooit met die recruiters…
