In the Engineering cluster, our software engineering department pioneers the development of combat and information management systems for navy ships, seamlessly integrating them with sensor and weapon systems. We also specialize in crafting sensor processing applications. These sophisticated systems are deployed globally, safeguarding lives because we believe in the fundamental right to safety for every individual. Our software forms the core of these systems, pivotal in critical situations where human lives are at risk. Joining our software engineering department, particularly the CMS (Combat Management System) infrastructure team, presents an opportunity for skilled Software Platform Engineers.

As a Software Platform Engineer, you'll collaborate within agile, multidisciplinary teams. These teams focus on developing and testing infrastructure software platforms for combat management systems, radar systems, and optical sensor systems. From requirements analysis to product demonstration, our development teams oversee the entire development lifecycle, ensuring seamless integration, testing, validation, and product demonstration.

Your role as a Software Platform Engineer will be dynamic, requiring flexibility. Operating within the realms of Scrum and Cloud-native/DevOps methodologies, your tasks may vary from week to week and project to project. One week, you might engage in Python programming, while the next, you'll leverage your expertise in network engineering. Additionally, Thales places high value on the adoption of modern technologies and methodologies. We expect you to demonstrate a willingness and courage to explore and implement new ways of working and technologies.

You're a skilled engineer who finds joy in specifying, developing, and testing IT/OT infrastructure components. You actively pursue personal growth, honing both technical and interpersonal skills. Your relevant experiences include:

  • Proficiency with Linux.
  • Familiarity with network technologies.
  • Expertise in software development languages such as Python, Bash, C, C++, and Java.
Familiarity with a range of tools and technologies, including:
  • Git-based source control systems.
  • CI/CD tooling.
  • Infrastructure as code tools, preferably Ansible.
  • Container technology.
  • Preferably, experience with Agile methodologies and related tooling (e.g., Jira).
You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, IT service management, or a related field. Your colleagues are esteemed experts in the industry, ready to support your growth, and Thales is committed to investing in your development.

An essential requirement for this role is flexibility and proficient communication skills in English, allowing you to effectively engage with stakeholders of all technical levels, including management.
