The legal team is expanding and is in an exciting transformational phase. It now seeks to recruit a Legal Counsel with focus on banking & finance law, which is a new role within the company.

A Legal & Governance Team with people working from Switzerland, Sweden and the Netherlands provides a full range of legal services to all companies and business units within its core business and to some other companies within the Inter IKEA Group. The team currently consists of 20 (non) legal professionals of many different nationalities, backgrounds, cultures and legal expertise areas. It’s a truly positive and collaborative team that works together to mitigate risk, and provide quality legal advice while always striving to be even better business partners.

Legal Counsel
with focus on banking & finance law, which is a new role within the company.
A big part of the role of the Legal Counsel will be to provide practical and business oriented legal advice

The Position

Your primary role as Legal Counsel Banking & Finance will be to support and work closely with the treasury teams in the Netherlands and Switzerland. Therefore, a big part of the role of the Legal Counsel will be to provide practical and business oriented legal advice, expertise and support to the teams that will be setting up new banking relationships and cash management structures. The work includes drafting, reviewing and negotiating documentation related to treasury activities, such as LMA documentation, bilateral loans, intercompany loans, ISDA & GMRA agreements, intercompany agreements covering financial matters, guarantees (security documentation) and the necessary corporate resolutions related thereto. In this role you will also be advising on, monitoring of and ensuring compliance with financial/corporate regulation and engaging in KYC/UBO due diligence and processes.

The role requires flexibility, openness to working partly outside of your specific legal focus area and the ability to work cross function within and outside the legal department, supporting colleagues when needed. You will be able to leading projects and networks of expertise that are of group-wide importance and in multiple jurisdictions.

The Profile

You are a European qualified lawyer (LLM), preferably Dutch qualified, with at least
3+ years
proven working experience gained at a premier law firm and/or a multinational/financial institution combined who thrives in a friendly, fast paced and transforming environment. You have in-depth knowledge of

banking & finance
(and treasury) related legal matters and generalist knowledge of
corporate law
. Any knowledge of competition law is considered a plus.
You are a true and collaborative team player who likes to work with others, to lead projects and to further strengthen the legal function. You are at your best under pressure, knowing how to prioritize. You are pragmatic, flexible and have a hands-on, self-starting approach. Problems are proactively tackled by your problem-solving ability and ‘out of the box’ thinking. Sometimes innovative, creative solutions are needed to explore all possibilities. You have good business acumen and quick and able to quickly identify root-causes. You are service-oriented towards stakeholders while mitigating risks and protecting the company’s interests. You are committed to the IKEA vision and values and have an interest in home furnishings.

It goes without saying that you have an international mindset, are good at building relationships and have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Dutch is considered a plus.
