Factory Logistics Outbound Team Leader Mars

Job Purpose/Overview

The role provides people leadership and development for the senior and expert roles in the outbound team. The manager makes sure the right prerequisites are set, so that the operational team, led by the Outbound TL, is able to perform with excellence. The manager oversees business critical systems, processes and procedures related to HUB and manage this expertise within the team (customs, certification, audits, Atlas Outbound, PDLS).Due to the regional role of the HUB, the manager has a leading role on outbound in the EU FLMT, acting as first point of contact towards stakeholders like commercial, markets and TCT.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the Outbound specialist team, securing operational excellence of road, rail, short sea transportacross EMEA and container shipments towards affiliate markets from the HUB with shipments to 90 countries. Throughput of the HUB is 675.000 pallets per year with a maximum storage capacity for Mars of 55.000 pallets (excluding overflow) and 9 other loading points across EMEA dispatching 5500 containers outbound and 500 containers inbound per year)
• Managing the team drive engagement and deliver service and costs objectives + engage all Outbound associates to one goal as one team
• Develop Strategy of the HUB and European physical outbound flows and its future and positioning within Mars for Chocolate, Food, Petfood and Gum including a tactical plan for the coming 3 years how to grow the HUB business
• Makes sure yearly tender process is managed properly, ensuring the right service level towards our markets
• Responsible for managing periodic LCC’s, market X-charges, financial setup, payments
• Improve supply chain performance structurally (ordering processes, documentation process, financial clearance process)
• Deliver Value Leadership initiatives through improvement projects on processes internally and external with customers and suppliers.
• Responsible for performance management of 3PL and TCT
• Makes sure VEG HUB is Customs expert and govern our conformance to customs standards
• Quality standards, responsible for outbound processes being in line with Mars/QID policies
• Oversee business critical systems, processes and procedures related to HUB and manage this expertise with the experts’ team (customs, certification, audits, PRIMP, H&R)
• Due to the regional role of the HUB, the manager has a leading role on outbound in the EU FLMT, acting as first point of contact towards stakeholders like commercial, markets and TCT, representing all EU MW sites.

Context and Scope

15 sourcing units delivering to HUB, shipments to 50 countries10 loading points in EMEA, shipments to 70 countries (deep sea shipments)People leadership and line management of the team of 7-8 associates and 0-2 contractors

The role reports into the Outbound Logistics Manager

What are we looking for?

5 years in logistics and / or people leadership. Preferable in a relevant industry.
Knowledge/ExperienceLogistics, Planning, ERP (preferably SAP), People Development, Analytics People leadership skills and understanding
