The Department of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor (Universitair Docent) position in Political Science with a specialization in Political Economy.
What are you going to do
The successful candidate will conduct research in Political Economy, and teach introductory and advanced courses in Political Economy. Within that political economy focus, the search is open with respect to subfield and geographical area of expertise. However, it is an added plus to address questions around international political economy, finance, historical political economy, sustainability and/or the welfare state and social policy.
Successful candidates will be affiliated with the Programme Group ‘Political Economy and Transnational Governance,’ housed in the Department of Political Science and the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR). PETGOV focuses on the transnational integration of markets and economic transactions that have given rise to far-reaching transformations of governance both within and beyond the nation-state. Requirements
A PhD in Political Science or closely related field in the social sciences;An ongoing research programme and publications, focused on internationally ranked, peer reviewed journals and/or books published by internationally recognized academic presses;
A demonstrated expertise in the field of Political Economy;
Mastery of social science research methods appropriate for the candidate’s research agenda;
Ability to provide excellent and inspiring teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in English;
A capacity to teach in English or Dutch, and a willingness to learn Dutch within three years;
The basic qualification at Dutch universities in higher education (Basiskwalificatie Onderwijs; BKO) certificate, or a willingness to acquire such.
What do we require
Developing, conducting, and supervising high quality academic research in Political Economy;
Teaching general and specialist courses in Political Economy at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels, and involvement in post-graduate supervision;
(Participating in) acquiring external research funding;
Contributing to the research programme of the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research, and to the Programme Group Political Economy and Transnational Governance (PETGOV).

Depending on your experience, the minimum salary is €3,821 and the maximum salary is €5,230 gross per month based on a 38-hour working week, in keeping with salary scale 11, as per the
