For Cordaid's Health programming, Cordaid is looking for a Communications Officer Programs - Health (32-36 hours, The Hague).

What you doWhile your portfolio may change in the future depending on how the Health portfolio evolves, you will dedicate a large part of your time towards one of Cordaid’s major programs; the Global Health Global Access program. The Global Health, Global Access (GHGA) advocacy project (2021-2023) aims to promote and increase financial support for Dutch development aid and global health priorities, including health systems strengthening and sexual and reproductive health and rights. The project aims to generate public awareness, mobilise resources, establish partnerships and realise policy changes to improve the quality of health systems and services, with a special focus on the poorest and most vulnerable people in fragile states. Every person counts, especially when it comes to healthcare. Universal health coverage is not merely a dream, but a sustainable development goal to be achieved in 2030. Furthermore, with the outbreak of the Covid pandemic we have experienced that there is great need for strengthening health systems worldwide; no one is safe until everyone is safe.
Your works consists of, among others;
- Global Health Global Access;
- Developing a communication plan for the Global Health Global Access project phase 2021 – 2023
- Developing different communication products (such as brochures, articles, policy papers, social media messages, etcetera) for different audiences and purposes;
- Translating project results and lessons learned in attractive (online) publications;
- Providing necessary communications support for advocacy and lobby efforts and events;
- Coordinating with the communications group of Dutch Global Health Alliance on key advocacy moments;
- Portraying content (varying from personal stories to political analyses) from your colleagues at the Global Office in The Hague or in our Country Offices or from our partner network whom appeal to different audiences (the Dutch/International public, policy-makers, donors, etcetera);
- Ensuring compliance of communication products with the Cordaid house-style.
- You will contribute to proposal development and ensure the proposals are presented in the best possible way. At times you may also be requested to include communication strategies in these proposals.
- You will contribute to developing year plans, year reporting and strategy development of the programme unit and Health thematic area specifically.
Functie-eisen en profiel
- You have a Master or Bachelor degree in Communication and/or Journalism;
- You have at least five years’ experience in a similar position;
- You have proven experience with content production;
- You have strong affinity with development cooperation and issues related to healthcare and policy influencing;
- You have solid interview techniques and writing (and editing) skills;
- You easily find your way in a complex organization with a Global Office in The Hague and multiple Country Offices and are able to motivate colleagues to work with you on the products you produce;
- You are able and willing to travel to project sites, which can be in fragile contexts;
- You have strong intercultural communication skills;
- You are creative, a team player, have a hands-on mentality and willingness to learn;
- You are fluent in English and Dutch and ideally in French.

- Until further notice we work (partially) remotely due to Covid-19 regulations, but in the future a well-equipped modern office in the heart of The Hague will be your work location.
