Sport Operations Manager, Laakdal

The Sport Operations Manager has operational responsibility for running the sport facilities and will be the linking pin to the rest of the organisation. You will lead and develop the team on-site to ensure we operationally deliver our KPIs, effectively run day to day operations and deliver the commercial outcomes outlined in our business plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively within the Nike and High Five organisation to drive optimisation of this contract, specifically the commercial growth and wellbeing services that align with the client’s workforce Wellbeing proposition
  • Ensuring operational excellence by optimal coordination of people and resources incl. scheduling of coaches, programming, procurement and vendor management
  • Identify needs and trends and discus them with key stakeholders within High Five and Nike. Proactively seek new initiatives that support the strategic ambition.
  • Recruitment of new trainers to ensure that we have a strong network to rely on
  • Preparation of business cases and monthly reporting on KPIs, including top line assumptions of finance management and budget creation
  • Implement and evaluate the operational strategy to constantly meet and exceed the growth targets.
  • Provide effective and visible leadership to structure, manage, develop and motivate the team to ensure that individual and team objectives are met.
  • Work closely and collaborate with internal stakeholders across the business (including HR, finance, IT, propositions, marketing, CSR) and external stakeholders (including suppliers, contractors, specialists) to deliver and develop our Wellbeing proposition.
  • Drive high performance, success and best practice within the team, adopting a ‘high challenge, high support’ approach.
  • Uphold our value of being evidence-based by using data and information by being aware of, and following, all company procedures and guidelines. Ensure all documented policies and procedures within responsibility are maintained in accordance with company requirements.

Desired essential experience

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Sport, Public Health, Sport Management or related field
  • At least four years' work experience in a comparable role (including managerial experience);
  • Affinity with sport, vitality, exercise and/or health. Up-to-date knowledge of and experience in the (corporate) fitness sector is an advantage;
  • Language skills (fluent in English and Dutch; additional language a plus).
  • Leading the operational delivery of corporate gym facilities
  • Developing and implementing operational business plans, budgets and goals.
  • Senior client management experience, with a proven track record in business-to-business contract management services within the public and/or private sectors.
  • Proven leadership and managerial skills
  • Working closely and collaboratively within a business unit leadership team to successfully deliver that business unit’s objectives and targets; and working collaboratively across the organisation.
  • A willingness to embrace working within an insight-led culture whereby evidence-based decisions are made in relation to the target operating model, including but not restricted to propositions, processes and people.

Abilities, skills and knowledge

  • Effective organizational and project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and allocate resources. Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize actions to deliver a holistic wellbeing experiences is crucial.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships, understand stakeholders' needs, and work collaboratively to achieve set goals
  • Vision and knowledge to plan, implement and evaluate holistic sport and wellbeing offers
  • Very good communications and negotiating abilities (oral and written) as well as high presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging presentations
  • Ability to work in a Matrix organization and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to think creatively whilst also having a commercial focus.
  • A strong desire to be accountable and to exceed expectations.
  • Personal growth and learning mindset.
  • Articulate with strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Desire to seek out and test new ways of working and the courage to challenge the norm.
  • Analytical and data driven skills, with the ability to analyse, evaluate and present. information and data clearly.
