The Manufacturing site Geleen encompasses 7 plants: 2 Naphtha crackers (Olefins 3 & Olefins 4), a Logistics unit for Chemicals & Intermediates, a Polypropylene unit (PPF), 2 Polyethylene units (LDPE & HDPE) and a Logistics unit for Polymers. The Naphtha crackers produce amongst others ethylene and propylene that are mainly used as feedstock for the successive poly-olefins plants. Our polyethylene product range includes all of the commodity thermoplastic polymers, linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), low density polyethylene (LDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE). The polypropylene product range includes block copolymer and specialty automotive grades.

 
These 7 operational plants are organized according to the PMT-model (Plant Operations, Maintenance and Technical). Plant Operations is responsible for a safe and reliable production within the defined Safety Health & Environment / License to Operate goals.

Maintenance is responsible for specification, scheduling and execution of the activities in the plant. The Technical department is responsible for the design of the asset, the asset life plan, the operating window and the continuous review of the asset performance, of which asset integrity, process safety and legislative requirements are key factors.

 
The cross-functional Plant Improvement Team (which includes Plant Operation, Maintenance and Technical) identifies, selects and allocates resources to deliver a balanced portfolio of plant improvement opportunities that add the greatest value and focus on the most important activities. The purpose is to obtain strong functional teams to improve plant operations, reliability and sustainability.

 

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

 
Manage process improvements, defines planning and leads implementation of APM methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Criticality Assessment (CA), Asset Life Assessment (ALA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Reliability in Design (RID), etc.

Drives development and implementation of reliability plans and programs in order to reduce unscheduled equipment downtime and thus improve overall process reliability.

Ensures asset strategies are effective and delivers standardization across the site in order to strengthen the focus on asset management and improve asset reliability & performance.

Focal point for site Geleen with regards to asset performance procedures and standards / reliability methodologies, liaison towards Asset Technology Centre (ATC). Fulfills the role of Champion for site Geleen and replaces the Sr. Manager Technical in networking meetings when necessary.

Develop, optimize and implement rotating equipment strategy and multi-year planning programs, identify and lead performance killers gap closure actions regarding rotating equipment.

Define scope and review of engineering of necessary investment projects (CAPEX) regarding rotating equipment, in order to adhere to applicable regulatory requirements. Participate in CAPEX budgeting process including financial and resource planning. 

Contribute to multi-disciplinary projects and studies to ensure qualitative input regarding rotating equipment. 
Provide 2nd line technical support on all rotating equipment. Lead investigations and failure analysis to determine the reason for failure and give suitable recommendations for resolution.

Support in turnarounds and responsible for overhauling & refurbishing of specialized machines.
Responsible for a uniform implementation (check and balance / gatekeeping) of Asset Life Planning for rotating equipment on site Geleen assets.
Responsible for adequate staffing (qualitative as well as quantitative) for rotating engineers and APM engineers in order to meet objectives. 

Requirements

 
Minimum Bachelor, preferably Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Science/ Process Engineering or Technical Equivalent
5-10 years of experience in Petrochemical (or similar large Manufacturing) organization, of which +/- 5 years managerial experience
Broad understanding of relevant processes, plant and equipment regarding rotating equipment and asset performance methodologies 
Fluency in English both written and oral, Dutch/German and additional European languages would be a bonus
Excellent analytical and strategic partner skills
Excellent communication skills
Excellent presentation skills
Ability to work on own and as part of a team and broader team
Ability to influence SABIC Europe and Global Partner(s)
Ability to balance supportive/steering activities at Site and European level (in Manufacturing)
