Eindhoven University of Technology embraces the Student Teams as a key asset in extracurricular learning. Student Teams are doing exactly what TU/e expects from the engineers of the future, as is written in our Strategy 2030: Drivers of Change. Future engineers need a new set of skills: they need to be able to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams, have an entrepreneurial mindset, and think on a systems level. TU/e Student Teams demonstrate what kind of learning is needed to achieve this: students work with passion on open challenges with a competitive edge, learn to think at systems level, collaborate with companies and society, experiment with users, and show entrepreneurial behaviour. They not only develop their professional skills, but also learn to apply their disciplinary skills in context and deepen their disciplinary knowledge. TU/e embraces these skills and behaviour, and through TU/e innovation Space, facilitates this approach to learning for all students. This innovative type of learning, called Challenge-Based Learning (CBL), forms the core of the TU/e educational vision for 2030.TU/e innovation Space is the center of expertise for Challenge-Based Learning and student entrepreneurship at TU/e, a learning hub for education innovation and an open community where students, researchers, industry, and societal organizations can exchange knowledge and develop responsible solutions to real world-challenges.
One of the main responsibilities of the program manager is the coordination of the TU/e student teams. There are about 50 student teams across TU/e which address challenges in the fields of sustainability, artificial intelligence, health, built environment, mobility and many more. They work self-propelling, on extraordinary projects like a solar-powered family car, a car made of bio composite, a drone assistant, future living, and renewable energy resources. Thus, addressing societal relevant challenges and creating impact in society. Student teams offer students the opportunity of putting their knowledge into practice and develop their personal skills while working on an innovative project.
We are looking for a program manager Extracurricular Activities, who feels energized and inspired by contributing to the development and realization of support for the TU/e student teams. And at the same time is a key counterpart in the collaborative quest of generating ‘feeds forward’ from the student teams’ practice into the development of Challenge-Based Learning at TU/e. As our new program manager you would have a number of roles and responsibilities, amongst others:
- Coordinating the TU/e Student Team program in a coaching leadership style.
- Being responsible for organizing competence development of students in teams, by means of courses, trainings, and workshops; creating awareness related to e.g. wellbeing, financial, funding, and legal issues and linking to support on campus;
- Stimulating peer learning amongst teams; improvement and extension of coaching programs for students and student teams; and organizing activities for community building.
- Managing the Cluster Extracurricular in close collaboration with the other clusters and other partners within TU/e.

- Highly interested in students with open mind and innovative ideas that want to create impact.
- Passionate for supporting student-driven activities and extra-curricular development.
- Well-developed social skills, being a team player and a connector.
- Several years of experience in people management and project management.
- Ability to act on strategic, tactic and operational level.
- Coaching leadership style.
- Being prepared to work during irregular timeframes (also weekends, sometimes abroad) in line with student team activities.
- Flexible attitude and eager to learn and to continuously improve based on feedback.
- Good written and oral communication skills in both Dutch and English.
- Minimum education requirement is a Master degree.
Arbeidsvoorwaarden

- We offer a one year contract (1,0 fte) with prospect of permanent position. The contract will commence preferably in fall 2021 and in the first instance will last one year;
- An initial salary in accordance with the knowledge and experience offered, of a minimum of €4.612,- and a maximum of €5.922,- (salary scale 12) gross per month for a full-time appointment in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement Dutch Universities. UFO: Project Manager & Coordinator external collaboration.
- An attractive package of fringe benefits, including excellent work facilities, extra holiday allowance 8% in May and end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December and 41 paid holidays at a fulltime contract of 40 hours per week.;
- An appointment via EuFlex (TU/e secondment agency) is also an option.
