Technician Innovation and Development (40 hours per week)
GenomeScan provides innovative DNA and RNA analyses for patient diagnostics and genetic laboratory research. Our diagnostic tests are instrumental in detecting the cause behind disease and can help tailor the treatment to individual patients. That is why our slogan is “Caring for your Future”.We provide a comprehensive portfolio of cutting-edge Next Generation Sequencing techniques to analyze tumor-derived samples and hereditary traits including Whole Genome and Exome Sequencing, Inherited Disease Panel Sequencing, RNAseq, Methyl-seq – Epigenetics and Bio-Informatic analyses. Our laboratory is equipped with Illumina, PacBio and Ion-torrent sequencers and robot-systems for automated sample-processing. We are an ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 15189 accredited company; these are international standards for laboratory excellence.

Job description
The Technician is part of a small team that focusses on lab innovation and development of new services. As a member of this team, the Technician is actively involved in the development, implementation and validation of new methods, also on our robot platforms (Hamilton NGS Star, Hamilton Nimbus, Agilent BRAVO, Agilent Magnis). Furthermore, the Technician performs laboratory-based tasks and executes experiments which include sample handling, recording, and analyzing results according to the company quality standards. In addition to being an excellent team-player, the technician is capable of working highly independently.
Tasks
- To develop, implement and validate new methods
- To train colleagues on newly implemented methods
- To independently prepare and execute experiments to produce reliable and accurate data
- To take care of all related administrative tasks where necessary
- To execute general laboratory tasks
- To analyze experiments and prepare data reports under the supervision of Project Manager(s)
- To develop, write and keep Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related documents up-to-date
- Keeping up-to-date with technical developments
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Molecular Biology
- Minimum 3 years working experience
- Experience with NGS-methods and development of new protocols
- Good knowledge of major Molecular Biology techniques
- Basic understanding of a programming language is a pré
- Excellent knowledge of Dutch and English both verbally and in writing
