Senior Business Controller Procurement Refresco

Refresco is a very decentralized organization, yet Global Procurement is a function that is highly centralized, to ensure the capturing of economies of scale of this front. The Procurement department is the beating heart of the organization based in Rotterdam which is in charge of taking long and short coverage positions, buying-decisions, negotiations with regional and global suppliers and trading with Refresco Business Units. Next to that, the department has a strong commercial involvement in pricing strategies, customer negotiations and EBITDA management. 

The European Business Control Team comprises of three Senior Business Controllers and four Controllers/ Analysts supporting them. Each member actively participates to best practice sharing activities and contributes to the development of tools and processes to the benefit of the entire team. We are looking for our new:

Senior Business Controller Procurement 

Why this role? 

You are recognized as the finance business partner and key player to bring financial highlights to the decision-making process. Whilst being close to the business you are independent and safeguard the integrity of the functional disciplines you work for as Business Partner. On top, two senior Business Controllers in the team act as single/first point of contact for some of the Europe Business Units (full scope, goes beyond Operations or Commercial alone). In this role you will report directly to the CFO Europe in an exposed and exciting position in our company. 

Your circle of influence 

You interact daily with this team and provide the Procurement Director Europe and his team with proactive hands-on financial information and guidance in their day-to-day and strategic decision making. The most important stakeholders for this role are the European Management Team (“Operating Board”), the Finance Directors in the 8 Business Units that the European region holds, the global Procurement leadership team and the Chief Procurement Officer. You have one Business Controller working for you, to support you in data- and variance analysis, reporting and running specific projects. 

 Overview of the tasks and responsibilities

 
You collaborate with the Procurement team and contribute to the organization’s overall success by proactively managing the financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting for the Procurement department and by being an effective member of the European Business Control team.

Your responsibility includes delivering complete, accurate and timely key financial reporting and metrics, delivering comprehensive budget and forecasts, ensuring appropriate, complete and timely accounting of procurement transactions/hedging and inventories.

You take a proactive approach by challenging with qualitative performance analysis to point out areas which need to be improved. 
Creating a plan and infrastructure, the role guides the Procurement organization in setting smart objectives, key priorities, and ambitious targets.
You have a strong drive to always deliver excellent personal results and are highly passionate about financial control, operations/procurement, new technology, processes and working methods and supports an innovative culture.

Master’s degree in Finance, Business Control & Accountancy or similar field of expertise; 
At least 10 years of relevant professional experience 
Self-starter with a fast drumbeat and ability to thrive in an environment with tight timelines, business pressure and competing priorities; 
Demonstrated leadership through clear communication in team environments as well as effectively within all levels of the organization; 
Strong sense of team and individual ownership and accountability with the ability to influence others and lead teams in a similar fashion; 
Ability to recognize opportunities to take initiative to drive the business forward in a collaborative and team-based approach; 
Good understanding of financial and budgeting/forecasting processes of a manufacturing environment and how manufacturing processes drive financial results; 

Analytic capability to translate financial information into meaningful business analysis for business leadership; 
Experience working with ERP and reporting systems and ability to lead strategy for system simplification and leverage for reporting improvements; 
The ability to translate strategy to results; 
Strong understanding and knowledge of relevant accounting guidance (IFRS) and best practices in internal controls.
