The opportunity

Over the years it has more and more become subject to strict EU laws and regulations and ECJ case law. This centers around consumer protection and transparency. In addition, local legal developments potentially impact retail business in other countries. And internal developments require ING to fully optimize the expertise and potential in the legal teams in the various Retail countries, increase efficiency and impact and boost its forward looking capabilities.

With these ongoing developments and intensifications in internal and external (legal and regulatory) requirements Legal Department Bank has to step-up its global potential in business support. To ensure that the Legal department fully optimizes its expertise and global potential, it is embarking on a transformation journey.

The ambition of the Legal Department Bank is to contribute to the long term success of the ING business. To ensure a safe and secure bank, Legal steers on pro-active and sustainable legal advice, aiming at mitigating present and future risks.
