Rutgers combines work on the ground with research, advocacy and promoting public support. Our focus is on sexuality education and information, access to contraception and safe abortion and the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence.

In this role you will lead our small, ambitious and dedicated Resource Mobilisation Unit. The RMU is continuously on the lookout for new institutional fundraising opportunities and manages the process of proposal development. The RMU is strong in institutional fundraising for international programmes. Our ambition is to expand the scope of institutional fundraising for national programmes.
What you will be doing
You will lead the Resource Mobilisation Unit, that consists of a Senior Institutional Fundraiser, an Institutional Fundraising Assistant and you.
You manage the process of proposal development:
You connect partner organisations, colleagues, ideas and insights to make building blocks for proposals.
You write proposals, put elements of a proposal together, including parts of the proposal that are written by colleagues and partner organisations, and ensure due diligence and eligibility criteria.
You sell proposals, internally to our management, and externally to partner organisations and (possible) donors.
Throughout the process, you streamline and liaise with colleagues, while keeping an eye on the planning to ensure a timely submission.
You have the final responsibility to guarantee a high quality of the funding proposals.
You expand our possibilities for institutional fundraising:
You are continuously on the lookout for fundraising opportunities with possible funding sources for our national and international programmes, while connecting with colleagues’ work, network and ideas.
You proactively table ideas and funding opportunities.
You are continuously looking to expand and diversify our network across different sectors and innovative funders. You contribute to building strategic partnerships.
You enjoy designing creative and unconventional ideas for unlikely funders.
You participate in conferences such as the Skoll World Forum, DEVEX, Women Deliver & the International Conference for Family Planning.
You lead a small, ambitious and dedicated team:
Together with them you monitor and identify funding opportunities.
You also work closely with the finance and communications departments in developing proposals.

ou are a member of the international departments’ programme managers and report to the director of the international programmes.

You enjoy bringing the right people together in a proposal development team. You are a team player and networker, respectful to (cultural) differences, and can navigate different values, backgrounds, genders, and religions.
You have an interest in and passion for Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, and meet the following criteria:
You have proven success in institutional fundraising, including with the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Experience with fundraising for donors like the European Union, the National Postcode Lottery and Dutch foundations is preferred.
Building a network is like second nature to you.
You have experience with innovative grant-making.
You are an excellent writer.
You can translate the latest research and implementation insights into concise and appealing proposals.
You can navigate cultural differences and different perspectives.
Your command of English and Dutch is excellent, French would be an asset.
You are willing and able to travel abroad for work a couple of times per year.
What we offer
You will work in an exciting and challenging international environment, with highly motivated and passionate colleagues. Depending on knowledge and experience, the maximum salary for a 36-hour working week for this position is minimum €4.785 and maximum € 6.264 gross per month (FWG scale 65).
In addition to the primary employment conditions, Rutgers also offers a competitive package of secondary employment conditions, including an 8,33% end-of-year allowance and 100% paid parental leave. The collective labor agreement
applies.
Our office is located in Utrecht, the Netherlands,
but you will be working with colleagues all over the world. Most colleagues work from home for a part of the week.
Since you will need to work closely with colleagues in face-to-face meetings, we prefer a candidate based in The Netherlands.
